Find a Place

Clean It Well

Like, really, really good. Clean every inch of that fridge, not a speck of food, dirt or grime can be on it. Once you are done cleaning it, you need to defrost it. That means unplugging it and letting it completely dry out. This process can take a long time, so be prepared to wait. Once you do this, you can move to the next step.

Remove Everything

Remove all the drawers, shelves, light bulbs, everything. Doing this allows you to move the fridge around with easy and finds any trapped moisture that you missed from the last step. Always store these items separately, find a box or tub and place all the accessories in there.

Doors Too

That’s right, off come the doors. You need to ensure that no air can be trapped. Trapped air breeds moisture, that turns into mold, that means you have to toss the whole fridge out. Take the doors off, store them separate and put the door hardware in the safe, labelled place.

Standing Up

Once you are done all these steps, place in into the storage unit and make sure it’s standing upright. You do not want the Freon leaking out of your unit. Keeping it slightly off the ground with a pallet is your best bet.

You now have a fridge stored forever, or until you need it.
